Since 2017, Arantruf has been making the transition to the.
. We are doing this by producing and processing our own fertilizers. We are achieving this by making Compost, which we apply mainly as Compost Tea. With this, we have been able to reduce the purchase of fertilizers and fungicides by 85%, maintaining production levels and improving the quality and condition of our fruit, as well as lowering production costs. Season 2018/2019, we are making 1,000 m3 of Compost. Next season we expect to make at least 2,000 m3 per year.
The compost is made from 100% agricultural waste. The raw materials are: Cow Dung from a neighbor, Remains of our Blueberry pruning and Grain stubble, also from neighbors. We expect that by 2022, 100% of our fertilization will be done by us.
By composting, mainly cow manure, we are helping to mitigate the emission of methane (cow manure produces greenhouse gases), the main gas that causes the greenhouse effect. By composting cereal stubble, this season we have avoided the burning of the equivalent of 2,000 bales, helping to avoid the emission of CO and NO, greenhouse gases.
We are committed to the Circular Economy, Sustainability, Sustainability and CSR.
